Mount Nemrut and King Antiochos
Mount Nemrut, an impressive artificial tumulus reaching 2150 m with its gigantic statues. A grandiose realization reminding the ambition of the king Antiochos who wanted to fuse eastern and western civilizations.
Culture and history
Drive to Kahta. On the way visit of some monuments: Karakus tumulus, a sepulcher from the 1st C. BC.; the bridge of Cendere; Arsemeia of Nymphais – the old capital of the kingdome of Commagene. Visit of the old Kahta with its fortress.
In the afternoon we join Sanli Urfa, the city of the prophets. According to the bible, Abraham stayed there to captivate the local divinities. Visit of the bazaar and walk in the citadel.
