Multiactivity in Lycia
Multiactivity in Lycia
Here is a tour that we wanted to be unusual: in this area where winter climate is temperate, we combined several activities: sea kayaking, cycling, sailing, trekking, 4X4 safari and diving or snorkelling...
As Turkey has been called “the cradle of civilisation”, on this coast with a rich history, added to the amazing spectacle of a sea with limpid water striking the abrupt cliffs, you will discover the archaeological richness dating back to 8th century BC of Greek and Roman cities which are admirably preserved, with a Lycian necropolis lost in the vegetation.
Through this tour, you will have an excellent approach of an area rich in archaeological sites and still non-affected by new civilisation.
Day 1 : Fethiye
Meet with our Anatolia Cultura Travel team at the airport and transfer to the Hotel in Fethiye.
Day 2 : Fethiye, sea kayaking
It's time to grab a paddle as we jump into a kayak for a half-day of sea kayaking through the Gulf of Göcek. After a thorough introduction to safety and the basics of sea kayaking, you are ready to hit the water, exploring the many small coves and inlets of this beautiful region. Of course there will also be time for swimming.
Overnight in Fethiye.
Day 3 : Dalyan Cycling tour
Today we head to Dalaman to enjoy a day of cycling. First stop is the local market where we can buy our ingredients for a picnic lunch to enjoy en route.
Flanked by mountains, our route hugs the shore of Lake Kocagöl, cycling through olive groves, small villages and orchards, finishing the day with a swim at Sarsila Bay. This is a challenging and interesting route but depends on the ability and interest of the group. Other options are available.
Total cycling distance is approximately 30kms.
Day 4 : Dalyan – Caunos - Fethiye
Drive to Dalyan where we visit the ruins of the Caunos, the old carian city: we sea the theatre, temple, church, roman bath… The acropolis offers a spectacular view and is well worth to ascend. Then we do a boat trip through the reed labyrinth river to the Iztuzu beach where Careta-Careta turtles lay eggs.
Return back to Fethiye for the night.
Walk and visit 4 h.
Day 5 : Kayaköy, Ölüdeniz, Fethiye : Trekking
We walk toward Kayaköy ; originaly named ”Karmilassos”. This is an old Greek village given up at the beginning of the 20th S. in accordance with the treaty of Lausanne which envisaged an exchange of population between the two countries. Two admirable churches are still drawn up among the stone-built houses in ruin. After the visit we go on trekking on a forest path which offers a splendid panorama on the limpid turquoise water splits. We walk directly down to the Oludeniz lagoon. In this part of the Mediterranean, it is possible to bathe very late in the season, and if the temperature allows it, the amateurs of the bath will find their happiness here.
Return back to Fethiye for the night.
Day 6 : Diving or snorkelling
Crystal clear warm water and mediterranean sunshine! Find out what lies beneath the surface of the majestic mediterranean with a one day try dive package. This is a real adventure where you will sail out to sea to a quiet dive location. As well as instruction on board, you also get to try out your newfound diving skills in shallow protected water before going on a longer dive in the Mediterranean with your teacher and buddy. Maybe you will get to swim with a Caretta Caretta turtle! But if not, there are reefs, walls and caves aplenty.
Back at hotel
Day 7 : Jeep Safari
Today we have a 4X4 safari toward Tlos area.
A fantastic, fun day out for explorers of all ages. Our Professional guides and drivers lead this jeep convoy-expedition off the beaten track to discover real Turkish traditions, fabulous scenery and archaelogical treasures all in one day.
The ancient city of Tlos is built on the slopes of a step hill, from which there are amazing views of the surrounding countryside. We stop briefly at the foot of the hill to take photos whilst our guide briefly explains the history of ruins, which include a castle, Lycian rock tombs and a theatre.
Saklikent Canyon is the perfect place to cool off. After a delicious al fresco lunch, there's time to relax in the shade of leafy groves by the waterside, or cross the river to walk into the George, which is 18 km long at 300m deep in some places, and has been eroded over thousands of years by rushing glacial waters.
RAFTING : It's up to you to do rafting in cold freezing water of Saklıkent Gorge where it takes about 30-35 minutes with profesional guide and equipment.
Patara is the longest beach in Turkey's coast a wide seashore of golden sand as far as the eye can see, lapped by shallow sea. It's also pretty much deserted, so is a perfect place to relax and swim before heading back towards Fethiye.
Driving through traditional villages, we stop for a swim in a pool, and to hose the Jeeps down, before arriving back in the resort feeling truly exhilarated, though perhaps a little dusty and weary, after a day of light-hearted fun and real adventure.
